How multi-recipient checkout works for shoppers

Unlock incremental revenue by letting shoppers easily send gifts to several recipients in a single checkout.

Updated over a month ago

Send To Many's multi-recipient checkout allows shoppers on your store send products to multiple different recipients within a single purchase. They can add individual recipients, customize each recipient's specific product selections, gift messages and shipping options, and complete the entire order with one payment.

Two flavors of shopper experience

Cart mode

From your standard cart page or side drawer, display buttons or banners highlighting the multi-recipient checkout experience.

Once in the cart, shoppers will see the contents of their cart and can add recipients and customize their orders from there. For this option, add the theme app block to a page template. (A developer can also integrate our app block directly into the cart page if desired.)

Collection mode

The other option is to add Send To Many's theme app block to a collection template (or multiple collections) and link customers to these gifting pages. Shoppers will see your collection products and can choose one or more to send to their recipients.

Adding Recipients and Customizing Orders

Adding Recipients

On the 'Add recipients & customize' step, shoppers can manually enter the recipient's name, address (with auto-complete) and any other details you want to capture per recipient.

They can also add recipients by selecting saved addresses from your store account.

Or they can add multiple recipients at once by uploading a spreadsheet. The downloadable template includes name, address fields and any additional columns you have set up.

Recipient Limit

Shoppers can currently add a maximum of 25 recipients per multi-recipient checkout.

Customizing Orders

Shoppers can tailor product selections for each recipient by assigning specific products, adjusting quantities, and selecting different variants. Selections can also be "filled down" to apply to remaining recipients.

Shipping options and gift messages, along with any other desired inputs can be customized per recipient as well. You can set the shipping options to use calculated rates from your site or to use free or flat shipping.

Upsell Discount

Shoppers can be prompted to add recipients or reach a minimum cart value to receive tiered discounts. Merchants can define one or more tiers, using fixed amount off, percent off or free shipping discounts.

Finalize and Checkout

Select shipping date

Shoppers can choose the timing for their order by selecting 'Ship ASAP' for the quickest dispatch or 'Schedule a ship date' to specify a particular future date for all orders to be sent. Merchants can set available shipping dates, even based on specific products in the checkout.

Merchants can also add input fields for additional order information like directions, dates, etc.

Review Order Summary

When shoppers are ready to check out, they'll see a summary with all product, tax, shipping and discounts aggregated across all recipients. They can enter their billing info and complete the checkout.

They will receive a standard order confirmation email for the aggregate order. And you can control whether they also receive individual order confirmations or shipping notifications.
